Tipton-based Angle Ring Company is celebrating its 75th year in business in 2026, marking a major milestone for one of the UK’s leading steel bending specialists.
75 Years of Steel Bending Expertise
Founded in 1951 by Frank Barnshaw, The Angle Ring Company has grown from its West Midlands roots into a third-generation family business with one of the largest ranges of steel bending capabilities in the UK.
Based at its single-site production facility in Tipton, the company supports fabricators, architects, steelwork contractors, civil engineers and general engineers across the UK and internationally. Its work spans a wide range of sectors, including architectural and construction, industrial, offshore, defence, civil engineering, energy and manufacturing.
Celebrating the People, Projects and Stories Behind Angle Ring
Over the next six months, Angle Ring will be honouring 75 years of excellence by sharing stories from its rich history, celebrating key milestones and memorable moments, and highlighting the people, projects and culture that have shaped the business over the decades.
As part of the celebrations, Angle Ring is also inviting customers, former employees, residents and those connected to the business over the years to share memories, stories and photographs that help tell the story of Angle Ring and its place within the Tipton community.
The anniversary campaign will look back at the company’s legacy while also focusing on the future, exploring how Angle Ring continues to support major UK and international projects through specialist steel bending, technical expertise and investment in future engineering talent.
Proudly Rooted in Tipton
Angle Ring’s connection to Tipton remains central to its story. Alongside its role as a local employer and specialist manufacturer, the company continues to help showcase the strength of engineering and constructional steelwork in the West Midlands.
This has included welcoming Antonia Bance, MP for Tipton and Wednesbury, to its facility as part of a British Constructional Steelwork Association programme, and taking part in a Sandwell Council-led campaign celebrating the people, innovation and industries helping to shape the region’s future.
A Milestone Moment for the Barnshaw Family

“My grandfather founded Angle Ring in 1951, and it is a privilege to continue that legacy as a third-generation family business here in Tipton. While our capabilities, machinery and projects have evolved significantly over the years, our values have remained the same: quality, precision, reliability and personal service.
“Over the next six months, we want to celebrate the stories behind Angle Ring, from major projects and memorable moments to the people who have played a part in our journey. We are also looking firmly to the future, continuing to invest in our capabilities and support the next generation of engineering talent.”
From Landmark Infrastructure to the Big Screen
Over the years, Angle Ring’s specialist bending capabilities have seen the company contribute to projects of all shapes, sizes and sectors, from major infrastructure and architectural steelwork to creative and one-of-a-kind commissions.
This range is reflected in projects such as the Waterside Footbridge over the River Trent in Nottingham, where Angle Ring supplied complex curved steel sections for the first new bridge built across the river in more than 60 years.
Its expertise has also reached the big screen, with Angle Ring providing the tubular steel rings for the Quidditch rings for the first Harry Potter film, along with the helical tube bend for the iconic pink slide featured in the Barbie Movie, demonstrating the company’s ability to support both technical structural projects and highly creative design-led work.
